Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept new patients?
Yes, we do. Medicare, Medi-Cal and HMO patients are welcome.
Are you a Medicare and Medi-Cal authorized Supplier?
Yes, we are. We are also a DME Supplier for most of the largest HMOs in Southern California especially LA Care, Global Care IPA, Molina, and many others.
What do I need to know about Medicare?
Medicare has rules, but we will help you navigate them with your doctor’s help.
What do I need to know about Medi-Cal?
Medi-Cal has a moratorium on DME Suppliers and restricts what we can provide. However, if you have Medi-Cal through your HMO, providers like LA Care and Molina handle most Medi-Cal patients, and we follow their guidelines to support your care.
If I don’t have insurance, can I purchase durable medical equipment (DME) out of pocket?
Yes, but some DME products require a prescription. We can help identify those items and refer you to your doctor for evaluation and a prescription.
Are there specific regulations for purchasing DME?
For most products, no. However, certain DME products in California are regulated devices and must comply with California Department of Public Health (CDPH) rules and guidelines.
Do you bill insurance?
Yes. We bill Medicare, Medi-Cal, Commercial Insurance, and most HMO plans. In many cases, we accept your plan’s payment as payment in full, helping reduce your out-of-pocket costs.
What do I need for my insurance to pay for my DME?
Coverage requirements vary by insurance type. You must meet your plan’s eligibility requirements and provide proof of enrollment. Medicare, Medi-Cal, HMO, and Commercial plans each have specific authorization guidelines.
Do you offer product warranties?
Yes. Most manufacturers provide a one-year warranty covering normal wear and tear. We can assist with equipment pickup, repair, and return services.
If my equipment was stolen or damaged in an accident, can you help me?
Yes. Documentation such as a police report, fire department report, or physician support may help when requesting a replacement through your health plan.
Are there financing options available?
We primarily bill patients or health plans. If coverage is unavailable, contact us and we can discuss possible solutions.
Do you offer technical support for the DME I purchase from you?
Yes.
How do you deliver products to my home?
Many DME products require in-home delivery, setup, and training. For recurring supplies such as diapers and other soft goods, we can arrange scheduled deliveries through FedEx or UPS.
Is there a minimum order amount?
No.
Can I purchase products from your website?
Not at this time. However, we are exploring future options to provide online purchasing for our clients.
Can I return my supplies?
Yes, provided the items have not been opened or used. Certain products, such as commodes and some bathroom safety equipment, are non-returnable.
Can I rent items from Speedycare Medical Distributors, Inc?
